My heart is inditing and of good matter (HWV 261) is thought to have been composed between 9
September 1727 and 11 October 1727. The coronation Anthem consists of a
shortened adaptation of verses from Psalm 45 (verses 1, 10, 12) and the Book of
Isaiah (chapter 49, verse 23). The music is in four sections and characterised
by a more refined and distinguished air than the other anthems.
The work is for Soprano, Alto 1, Alto 2, Tenor, and Bass (Bass 1 and 2 for the
first section) and Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass Soloists. Note
Perfect supplies tracks for all these voices.
Handel's first commission as a newly naturalised British subject was to write
the music for the coronation of George II of England and Queen Caroline which
also took place the same year.
Note Perfect provides the complete work in various options for obtaining the individual parts
(for individuals who just want to learn their own part), or for all voices, (for those managing choirs to hand out
relative tracks to their members).
